Club Leon vs Atlas Prediction

Club Leon and Atlas are struggling for points this season and will be keen on taking advantage of each other’s poor run. Both sides are determined not to make mistakes and lose the match to each other.

The last time these sides met was earlier in the year in Clausura. That game resulted in a draw. Angel Mena scored from the spot in the 22nd minute to give Club Leon the lead, and they held onto it until halftime.

The momentum changed after the break and Atlas switched gears in an effort to even things up soon. Edgar Zaldivar scored the goal in the 50th minute to level things up on the scoresheet, and the game remained 1-1 until the final whistle. Both sides had the same number of shots in the game despite Club Leon having 59% of the ball.

The last victory for Atlas over Club Leon was in the second leg last year’s Apertura final. They won 1-0, with Aldo Rocha scoring the lone goal of the match in the 55th minute. At the end of extra-time, the aggregate score was level and the match went to the penalty shootout.

Aldo Rodcha failed to score his goal in the shootout. However, Fernando Navarro was able to save Luis Montes’ penalty by Camilo Vargas. Atlas was victorious in penalties, winning 4-3. They went on to be champions.

Club Leon won the last leg in penalties. It was an exciting late victory. Luis Reyes handed Atlas the lead in the 11th minute before Victor Davila leveled things up in the 37th minute.

The match remained 1-1 until the 65th minute, when Julio Furch restored the lead for Atlas. Their lead lasted just 13 minutes this time, and Club Leon were level through Angel Mena. Mena scored his second penalty and his third for the home team to win the game 3-2.

Club Leon in desperate need of points to avoid their Clausura situation

Club Leon was unable to qualify for the Clausura playoffs due to goal difference. They could have sealed their place in the top 12 with one win in their last five matches, but only managed to get two points and lost thrice.

They started strongly in Apertura, and beat Atletico De San Luis away in their first game week. Lucas Di Yorio scored the later winner in the 93rd minute after Byron Castillo’s own goal helped San Luis cancel out Federico Martinez’s opening goal for Leon.

Lucas Di Yoorio, who helped the team make an incredible comeback and win points against Pumas UNAM was also the hero of the match. Trailing 3-0 and a man down in the 52nd minute, things looked set to be one-way traffic after Eduardo Salvio scored for the away side.

However, Di Yorio changed his mind and scored a second goal just a minute later. Joel Campbell scored the third goal six minutes later to increase the team’s confidence. With over half an hour left in the match, Club Leon were confident of getting something from the game, and Di Yorio scored the equalizer with 11 minutes left. Both sides were unable to get the victory.

They drew with Puebla in their next match before they began to lose. Toluca handed them their first defeat of the season after Daniel Alvarez scored the lone goal of the match in the 90th minute.

Club Leon did well to bounce back with a dramatic win over Club America, which saw Angel Mena scoring a penalty in the 105th minute of the match as there were 12 minutes added on! Leon led twice, but Henry Martin got a brace to tie it at 3-3.

Club Leon has been in horrible form since this win. Their next four matches saw them lose, beginning with an embarrassing defeat at Monterrey. Leon lost his confidence after the league leaders beat them 5-1 in their home match.

Losses to Mazatlan, Santos Laguna, and Pachuca followed, which has seen them sitting 16th in the league table.

Atlas’s Chances to Retain the Title Are Failing

Atlas won the Clausura and Apertura but is now struggling and may miss the playoffs. To be in the top four or qualify for the quarterfinals, they need to make major improvements.

Atlas started their season in the most disastrous way, losing to Cruz Azul at the Supercopa Liga MX. The penalty shootout saw them lose, which was enough to shake their confidence for the Liga MX season.

In their first game they faced Club America, and the result was a draw. The home team won the match but they managed to get a point.

They were then beaten by Toluca, who took a 3-0 lead inside the first 15 minutes. Aldo Rocha and Jesus Ocejo scored for Atlas, but they lost 3-2.

They got revenge on Cruz Azul by winning the league 3-2. But, the win did not launch their season and was followed by three losses.

Tigres UNAL and Club Tijuana defeated them, making it four defeats in five matches. After beating Queretaro 3-1 they bounced back but could not sustain the momentum in the next match.

They drew with Guadalajara the next week while Juarez beat them 1-0 at their home. In a well-balanced game, Atlas managed to draw with Puebla last week.

They are currently 14th in the league table – 12 points off league leaders Monterrey and 2 points off the final playoff spot occupied by Juarez FC.

Atlas Team News Aldo Rocha is expected to return next month. Anderson Santamaria faces suspension due to four bookings.
