New York Mets ML (-490) vs Pittsburgh Pirates

Sure, the Mets lost Jacob deGrom’s last start against the Cubs even though they were -350 on the ML. The value of this line is obviously with the Pirates.

But will the Mets lose another deGrom? That I don’t think so.

Especially when it comes to the Pittsburgh Pirates. They don’t currently have one plus-hitter and they are vying for a draft pick. In the NL East, the Mets are one game ahead of the Braves.

The Mets have a one-game lead over the Braves in the NL East. DeGrom will win this game for them.

Miami Marlins ML (-188) vs Washington Nationals

Sandy Alcantara is three starts away from a National League Cy Young. His first appearance against a non-playoff team is in just two months. The Nationals lineup is completely cooked and there are no more hitters.

Alcantara can be expected to play seven innings of shutout baseball today and capitalize on an inferior opposing team.

Meanwhile Anibal Sanchez walks more than 4.5 batters every nine innings for the Marlins, so they should get a couple of runs from Alcantara’s similarly terrible lineup. Only one win in a Sandy-type start is possible.

New York Yankees ML (-186) vs Milwaukee Brewers

I don’t like to back Gerritt Cole, considering he’s been an unprofitable pitcher this season.

I am happy to fade my Brewers. Milwaukee is the worst baseball team in the last month. This has led to some horrendous statistics. Jason Alexander, Milwaukee’s worst starter, is also a problem.

I’ll gladly fade that.

The Yankees need to win a couple of games down the stretch. Aaron Judge will be fighting for the American League’s home run record. That’s what I will bet.

St. Louis Cardinals ML (-290) vs Cincinnati Reds

Since joining the Cardinals, Jordan Montgomery has made eight starts with a 2. 05 ERA. Seven of the seven games have been won by Cardinals, with their final loss to Milwaukee last year.

But the Reds have no Joey Votto, and are also looking for draft picks. Although the Cardinals have most of the AL Central secured, an additional win would be helpful.
