MLB Picks, September 13

Check out our two favorite bets for Tuesday’s MLB slate.

New York Yankees @ Boston Red Sox

Time: 7: 10 p.m. EST Moneyline: Yankees -165, Red Sox +140 Run Line: Yankees -1.5 (+105), Red Sox +1.5 (-125) Total: Over 8.5 (-110), Under 8.5 (-110) Odds from DraftKings. Sign up and get a $1000 deposit bonus!

My pick: Boston Red Sox ML (+140)

Fading Gerrit Cole has been profitable this season. The Yankees are 17-11 in Cole’s starts this season, but betting $100 on each of those games would have lost you $328. His Cy Young potential has been slowed down by being overvalued in markets.

The Yankees playing on the road in Boston as -165 favorites is a perfect spot to fade Cole. Cole is only 4. 50 ERA pitching at Fenway Park.

It’s worthwhile to look at Nick Pivetta, the Boston offense. Pivetta has only allowed two earned runs over his two previous starts. He is streaky, however. The Red Sox also have the best-five OPS of any MLB team over the past month. The Yankees are 26th during that same stretch.

Philadelphia Phillies @ Miami Marlins

Time: 6: 40 p.m. EST Moneyline: Phillies +110, Marlins -130 Run Line: Phillies +1.5 (-2150, Marlins -1.5 (+176) Total: Over 7 (-118), Under 7 (-104) Odds from FanDuel Sportsbook. Bet 5 and Get $150.

My pick: Miami Marlins ML (-130)

You have to bet the Marlins on Sandy Alcantara day. Although the National League Cy Young candidate has had a rough season, he is still able to put together high-quality starts and pitch better at home than on the road.

For example, Alcantara has played five complete games in this season’s Major Leagues.

Meanwhile, the Phillies are starting Bailey Falter, who still hasn’t exceeded his rookie status with an xERA over 4.50. The Marlins are not a good offense, but they scored 10 runs yesterday against Texas and have scored at least three runs over the past five games. I’ll be riding with the largest pitching matchup for Tuesday.
