O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 Predictions

Zane Smith Looks to Enhance the Best Road Course Record This Year

Zane Smith won the first road course race of the 2022 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

He followed that with a second-place finish to Kyle Busch at Sonoma Raceway in June. Busch, the all-time leader in Truck Series wins with 62, won’t be racing at Mid-Ohio on Saturday.

First, Busch has already run his full complement of five Truck Series races this season. Second, he’ll be driving the NASCAR Cup Series car at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

That opens the door for Smith, and we fully expect him to take advantage of the opportunity. He’s our pick to win at +350 via BetMGM, even though he failed to make the top 10 in qualifying.

Ty Majeski Has Shown Excellent Speed; It’s About Time for Him to Win

Ty Majeski has done everything this season by win, as his average finish of 10.6 attests.

Driving the No. 66 Toyota for ThorSport Racing, Majeski has posted seven top-five results in 14 races this season, including a third-place run in the most recent road course race at Sonoma.

The 2.258-mile, 13-turn Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course should provide an excellent blend with Majeski’s talent, and we expect him to contend for the victory. If Zane Smith isn’t in the winner’s circle, Majeski just might get the first victory of his Truck Series career.

He’s a great long-shot pick at +2000 via BetMGM.

Road Course Ace Parker Kligerman Should Be a Frontrunner on Saturday

NBC pit reporter Parker Kligerman hasn’t run a full season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series since 2012, but that doesn’t mean he’s not competitive when he fires up the No. 75 truck for owner Charlie Henderson.

Kligerman has run seven of the 14 races this season, with a very respectable average finish of 11.0. In the road course race at Sonoma, Kligerman finished seventh.

In six road course starts in the Truck Series, Kligerman has posted four top-10 results, a total that includes a fifth-place run last year at Watkins Glen.

Though Kligerman has never raced a truck at Mid-Ohio, we expect him to be a quick study at the 13-turn course. Though we don’t expect Kligerman to win Saturday’s race, we don’t think a top five or even a top three is out of the question.

After all, Kligerman will start the race from the outside of the front row after posting a blistering lap in time trials.
