Querétaro vs Club América Pick
Querétaro have proved to be a difficult opponent for Club América in the past, but the away side should get the win this week.
Querétaro vs Club América Prediction
Querétaro have held Club América to a draw in their last two meetings. They have been shown multiple times that their form does not matter when they face Club America as they manage to do well against them.
The last time these two sides met was in Clausura earlier this year and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Club America took the lead in the fifth minute with Bruno Valdez finding the back of the net.
However, they had to change their tactics right at the end of the first half as Alejandro Zendejas got sent off. The midfielder’s two fouls in seven minutes led to bookings and he was given the marching orders.
Juan Romagnoli was sent off for Queretaro just before the hour mark to make it 10 vs 10. Club America did well to hold on to their lead, but have away a penalty in injury time and Queretaro converted. Angel Sepulveda scored for the away side to run away with a point from the game.
The last meeting in Apertura also ended in a draw after both sides failed to break the deadlock. Club America dominated the possession and had 16 shots on goal, but failed to breach the Queretaro defense.
Club America’s last win over Queretaro was in the 2021 edition of Clausura. Henry Martin scored the winner against 10 men in the 84th minute to seal the win. Angel Sepulveda was on the score sheet again for Queretaro, but his goal was an equalizer for Santiago Naveda’s opener in the first half.
Queretaro’s last win over Club America was truly a smash and grab. They had just 36% possession and fewer shots on target than their opponents but still managed to win 4-1!
Querétaro End Their Winless Streak in Time for Club America Clash
Queretaro made the worst start to Apertura this season and went winless in their first nine games. They are not rock bottom of the table with 7 points from the 10 matches so far.
In the transfer window, Queretaro made some decent signings with Gabriel Rojas, Clifford Aboagye and José Madueña lured on a free transfer. Jordan Silva, Mario Osuna and Luis Félix were also signed, while David Barbona and Ettson Ayón were loaned in.
They started their season at Pachuca and were beaten 2-0 comfortably. Their hopes to get points in their first home game are squashed after Club Necaxa scored a late winner in the game. Milton Giménez scored all three goals in the 2-1 game, including the own goal that helped Queretaro get level in the first half.
Juarez FC were up next for Queretaro and it was their best chance to get the three points. However, the side that finished rock bottom of the Clausura season managed to get a draw. Gabriel Fernández scored the opening goal for Juarez in the 6th minute, while Jordan Silva equalized seven minutes later. Fernández had the chance to restore Juarez’s lead, but he missed his penalty.
Monterrey handed Queretaro their third loss of the season in the following week before they secured their second point of the season with a draw against Guadalajara.
Tigres UNAL and Atlas managed to get wins over Queretaro to make things worse for the bottom-placed side. However, they are now on a 3-match unbeaten streak and secured their first win as well.
Jose Enrique Angulo scored in injury time to help Queretaro grab a point at home to Atletico de San Luis. The goal came in the 94th minute after Abel Hernández handed the away side the lead in the second half from the spot.
Queretaro needed another late goal to seal a point when they faced Mazatlan. However, their late goal looked set to give them their first win as Raúl Torres scored in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, they could not keep hold of their lead for long and Oswaldo Alanís equalized for the home side four minutes later.
Pablo Barrera and Ángel Sepúlveda finally managed to help Queretaro end their winless streak in the season when they faced Club Tijuana last week. The duo got on the scoresheet 89 minutes apart to seal a 2-0 win for the home side.

Club América Have Picked Up Form and Are on a Good Run
Club América had a tough start to the season as they were involved in friendlies with European and MLS sides. They were traveling a lot and had games every 3-4 days – making things difficult for the players and coaching staff.
Jonathan Rodríguez and Néstor Araújo were signed from Al-Nassr FC and Celta de Vigo respectively this summer, while Jürgen Damm joined on a free transfer after he was released by Atlanta United. Emilio Lara and Fernando Tapia were the latest additions to the side after they earned their promotion from the U20 side.
Jorge Sánchez was the big exit this summer, with Ajax signing the Mexican. Mauro Laínez and Jordan Silva also left the club after Juarez FC and Querétaro FC came calling while, Alonso Escoboza and Antonio López were released.
They started their season with a draw at home to Atlas and had to wait until gameweek three for their first win of the season. Losses to Club Tijuana and Club Leon made things worse as the players found it hard to play twice every week.
Things have changed for good in the last four matches as Club America have won them all. The winning run started after their penalty shootout win over Los Angeles FC in a friendly earlier this month.
They were up against Jaurez right the game against the MLS side and managed to win it 2-1. The win was followed by two 3-0 victories over Pumas UNAM and Pachuca – giving them the confidence to do well this season and fight for a place in the top 4.
Their confidence grew further after the stunning 7 -0 win over Cruz Azul. The hoe side had seven different goal scorers in the game, with Richard Sánchez opening the scoring in the 15th minute. Jonathan Rodríguez and Diego Valdés managed to get two more goals before halftime to all but seal the win in the first half itself.
Henry Martín put the result beyond doubts early in the second half by scoring Club America’s fourth goal in the 53rd minute. Cruz Azul tried to fight back and get something on the scoreboard, but Álvaro Fidalgo, Federico Viñas and Salvador Reyes made things worse for them and the game ended 7-0.
